They need to have their hands to carry it because it will be a really great burden if everything will be packed inside a bag.

This also applies for business persons who have to travel from one place to another often. Backpacks are great bags for them to carry their personal stuff while all the business materials and paraphernalia can be put into a sturdy leather briefcase. This way, the person could be able to carry all of the things he needs without worrying of all of them getting mixed with things when it should not. It will also be a great way to protect the things that might be crumpled when put into a backpack.
